Edgemar Center for the Arts has been a thriving cultural arts center for Los Angeles and provides a creative home for professional performers and artistic visionaries while nurturing the next generation of artists. Close to 10,000 people attended the various events of 2010.

Over the last eight years our season has included many works by new writers as well as timeless revivals. We have developed several outreach programs for children, most recently partnering with Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School district to reach at risk 5th graders. We partnered with Ocean House and for our Senior Moments Outreach program.

We are pleased to announce three exciting events that will be part of our 2011 Season.

2nd Annual One Act Festival: Acts on The Edge, April 15th through June 5th featuring the work of 10 up and coming writers. 2010 Festival played to sold out houses and saw 1,000 patrons from Santa Monica, Venice, Hollywood, and Greater Los Angeles.

2nd Annual Short Film Festival March 23rd-March 27th, 2011 with Honorary Chair Brett Ratner and Celebrity Jury Panelists Susan Sarandon and John Singleton. Our First Annual Short Film Festival in March 2010 was a wonderful success. In addition to providing a venue for up and coming film makers to share their work, we presented a directors series that emphasized the process that it takes to realize those works. Our director’s series included George Hickenlooper with FACTORY GIRL and David Anspaugh with HOOSIERS. The 2010 Film Festival hosted 2,500 guests from Santa Monica, Venice, Hollywood, Southern California, and industry throughout the U.S.

Edgemar Center for the Arts’ Annual Fundraiser hosted by Brad Garrett and Annie Duke on Thursday, February 24th 2011. 3rd Annual Celebrity Poker Night. In 2009 and 2010 Tournament Players bluffed, raised, and folded alongside poker pros Annie Duke, Chad Brown, Jerry Yang, Joe Reitman, and Maria Ho as well as celebrities Camryn Manheim (2010 Tournament Winner), Verne Troyer, Jose Canseco, Tony Denison, Jennifer Elise Cox, Kevin Weisman, John Singleton, Estella Warren and many others! Over the past two years 500 guests from all of Southern California attended.
